Real glad to find you guys. I started work on my photographic novel in September 2009. Check out our progress on my blog countercomics.com. I knew about Night Zero but not about Shadowraith or Kelp. Would love to get my hands on copies of those. I work with a sense of indebtedness to the pulp origins of this genre: The fotonovelas and fumetti of the 1970's and earlier. Hello everybody! <a href="http://www.unionofheroes.com/comic/1-titel-prologue.html">Union of Heroes</a> is a photocomic about superheroes – from Germany. Our photographed heroes experience their adventures in the Ruhr Area of a parallel earth. Sounds interesting? That's what it's supposed to be! We do our best to present good entertainment to our readers thrice a week. New pages are added every Monday, Wednesday and Friday since April 2008. Apart from that, our media section contains buddy icons and avatars, youtube movies, podcasts and radio features, our twitter entries, and links to our myspace profile and our facebook-group. Hello everybody! Nice to see that finally some other people start to explore this fantastic field. When I started my <a href="http://www.unionofheroes.com">Union of Heroes</a> in April 2008 there was only one good serial photo webcomics around "Dark Red". Now there are "Night Zero" and "Pure and hidden truth". Now some others seem to start working on it. Can't wait to see the results.

The results are really nice, I love mostly desaturated images and yours is one of the few I've found with creative lighting

I've recently had my own photographic novel published. It was a long, hard process but well worth it in the end and I hope that if you're also doing one of your own that it works out. I personally would love for this genre to take off and think that one day it will.

Hi guys, I just stumbled across this website when also searching "photograohic novel". I'm currently a student in London, and Ive always been interested in writing a book but could never find the motivation to do so. The reason I thought of this idea came from an idea I had about writing an online book in episodes, but with pictures. I know I want to do something to this effect but at the moment I'm just bouncing ideas around. I was wondering what camera you plan on using for the pictures and what program you will be using to put everything together? Cheers

Hi playing the hero. I know what you mean - I had the idea to create a photographic novel several years ago, but when I suggested it, people scoffed and compared it to the really bad photo stories in girls romantic magazines. I had little idea of how to use Photoshop etc back then, and the idea faded into the back of my mind. I'm now doing a Masters degree in digital visual effects, and the idea occurred to me again recently to do a photographic novel (I'd never heard the term "photographic novel" but Googled it anyway). I have no answers to your questions, but have been thinking along the same lines myself. I used to do a lot of writing, but never felt I could pull off a full blown novel. A photographic novel, on the other hand... I'm really excited by the idea of HDR and tonemapping to remove the ultra-real photo quality of the comic strips, and the idea of blending this together with 3d rendered objects and matte paintings is keeping me awake at night daydreaming.

Hey guys, Not much action I see, hopefully with the few members we have we can actually focus more on helping each other out. To iLest, I haven't seen any major publications of a photographic novel (not that i know of at least) first time i saw any sign of one was on this site. I think google has either failed us by providing better results, or this is truly a new breed of reading that hasn't been mainstream glorified yet. Looks like we all jumped on this band wagon at the ground floor!!!

This is actually insane that such few people have thought if this. I expected this idea to be done and played out by now. Anyways, I just thought of this idea today. I am not a writer but I am a photographer with a wild imagination and crazy dark ideas for a photographic novel. I already have a premise, plot and explanation for the world I'm creating. However, I am not the best at writing stories or scripts because I have never done any of the sort. Basically, where would be good place to start? I was thinking of taking all my photos and developing the story visually as I go with reference to my "so called" outline and written premise. Since I don't have writing experience, would it be wise to team up with a writer who can carry away with my premise? or should I just write away and have editors tear it apart till I get it right? PS. I hope this forum actually stays small for the sake of saturating the market

Greeting Earthlings. Today I discovered your forum and I have to say that I am really happy I found ppl being interested in Photographic Novels. I am a postgraduate student from Greece, and I am preparing my project for my course. I am going to create a novel with manipulated photographs but first of all I need to gather material and work examples from wherever I can. Do you have anything to suggest me? I checked all of the links you have posted here and all of them are very helpfull and inspiring. But are there any more to share? Do you know if I can find more information about photographic novels? I am interested also in work from previous years because before starting my project I need to reserch everything in this field. So, anyone who can help?

Hey there!! I don't see a lot going on but maybe, just maybe, we can change all that! I'm Shaine Phillips and my partner, Jean Nichols, and I are only a few months away from our first book being released. We're doing a little twist on the photographic novel. Each page will have a photo/or photos in the background with the stories over/around. There are 5 short stories, all connected, and this is the first in the series. We are very excited!
